Luhlahlay's Story

Karen Longmore was born in Cockburn Pen, Kingston, Jamaica. The mother of 6 kids, 5 girls and 1 boy, entrepreneur and business owner of Queen Cleaning Service & Frill World decided to continue to pursue a music career in reggae after earlier attempts years ago. Now after raising her children she can fully focus on her aspirations.

Popularly known as Luhlahlay, her love for music and entertainment has never left. When she was about 1 year old, she was sent to live with family in St Thomas, Jamaica. While growing up she listened and would sing to all types of music. By the age 9 she started to dj on a sound system named Black Knight. By age 10 she was leading a choir at Amity Hall Baptist Church until 13 years old. At 13 she returned to Kingston where she continued to sing at her school’s devotions and parties.

Luhlahlay would travel to many studios such as Tuff Gong, Jimmy's, Tubby’s, Studio One, etc She started going to Youthman Promotion where she start linking with late the late Sugar Minott, Michael Prophet Little John, Tuffest, just to name a few.

During her musical journey as an adult she found her name LUHLAHLAY sometimes called LUHLAH for short. It was a name given to her as to protect her identity when spoken about. It's like someone saying, "Such Man" or "Mr. Mention" but a female name version. She decided to add it to her moniker in music years later.

As a frequent traveller to and from Jamaica, she is currently based in New York and has continued her musical mission. While in New York, June 2019, she met Tuffest where their chemistry allowed them to write, perform and create a label named, GHETTO SLANG ENTERTAINMENT INC. Luhlahlay is on a various artists project called the Bad Wasp Rhythm on a song with Tuffest, titled, DEMA SWIPE. Produced by BROJAHTOSH & SECRET RIVAL MUSIC. On the project Peter Metro, Junior Demus, Tilly Beng, Little John, Jah Thunder, Penny Irie, Reggie Stepper just to name a few.
